For Her Movement is seeking passionate, values-aligned individuals interested in joining our governance community to join our governance discussions and help shape the future of our growing not-for-profit organisation.

We are a community-led movement supporting wāhine navigating adversity through reintegration programmes, personal development, employment pathways and our social enterprise beauty studio.

As we continue to grow, we're looking for people who believe in our kaupapa and can bring their experience, perspectives and skills to strengthen our governance, sustainability and long-term impact.

Our community will have opportunities to contribute through member hui, strategic discussions and shared knowledge alongside our governing committee who retains formal governance oversight and responsibility.

Why join our community?

This is an opportunity to contribute to an organisation creating meaningful change in our community.

As a governance community member, you'll have opportunities to contribute your voice, experience and perspectives through member hui and strategic discussions, helping to strengthen accountability and support the organisation to grow sustainably while remaining grounded in its values.

You'll be part of shaping a future where more wāhine have access to support, opportunities and pathways towards independence.

Who we're looking for?

We welcome expressions of interest from individuals who share our values and can contribute experience or knowledge in areas such as:

  • Governance and strategic leadership

  • Finance, accounting and financial oversight

  • Legal, compliance and risk management

  • Fundraising, grants and organisational sustainability

  • Community development and social services

  • Māori leadership, tikanga and community engagement

  • Employment, education and reintegration pathways

  • Lived experience

Previous governance experience is valuable but not essential. We also welcome people with lived experience, community knowledge and a genuine commitment to our kaupapa.

What does the role involve?

Governance community members contribute their experience, perspectives and knowledge to support the governance, accountability and long-term direction of For Her Movement. Opportunities to contribute may include:

  • Attending and participating in member hui, either in person or online

  • Contributing ideas and perspectives to strategic planning and organisational direction

  • Sharing lived experience, professional expertise and community knowledge

  • Providing feedback on programmes, initiatives and opportunities for growth

  • Supporting the organisation to remain grounded in its kaupapa, values and community needs

  • Strengthening community connections, partnerships and opportunities

  • Participating in formal general meetings and exercising membership rights in accordance with our constitution

  • Respecting confidentiality and declaring potential conflicts of interest where relevant

This is a voluntary, unpaid opportunity.

Members contribute their time, knowledge and experience to help strengthen the sustainability, accountability and long-term impact of For Her Movement.

Our existing three-person governing committee remains responsible for formal governance oversight and committee decision-making, while wider society members contribute through consultation, member hui and their constitutional membership rights.

This is a governance participation and membership role rather than a day-to-day operational position. We anticipate holding quarterly member hui, with opportunities to participate online from anywhere in Aotearoa. Meeting frequency, expected time commitment and appointment arrangements will be discussed with prospective members.

Express your interest

If you believe in the kaupapa of For Her Movement and would like to contribute to its future, we'd love to hear from you.

Complete our expression-of-interest form to tell us a little about yourself, your experience and why you're interested in joining our governance community.

Expressions of interest will be reviewed, and suitable applicants will be contacted to discuss the opportunity further.

Let's keep in touch
